September 2006 Archives
I can't believe its been so long since I last posted here.
Well, thats not entirely accurate I supoose. I've been so freakin' busy ... its no surprise I haven't posted!
My class schedule this semester is much easier in that i have no classes where I get "called on". So the amount of pre-class prep work I have been doing in the form of reading and taking notes and whatnot has shrunk to just about nothing. But I have a lot of classes this semester that are "paper" classes ... and it seems like every other day I have something due for some class. The clinic I'm in is fabulous but is taking a good chunk of time between meetings with the professor, meetings at the legislature, and various drafts being due.
I'm trying to get my getting chunkier by the day self back in shape. Been riding as much as I can and running a little. Running is frustrating for me because I am so not a natural runner and it takes me a LONG time to get to the point where I can run 30-40 minutes. After that I can go up in distance pretty quickly ... its just getting to that 30-40 minute point that is frustrating. Haven't been mountain biking much, but hopefully I'll be able to get out on the trails pretty soon. We're in full blown fall weather, so the trail sounds like heaven. I love fall.
Last Saturday the boyfriend, the dog, and I left the apartment in the morning and didn't return till 10 or 11 that night. We drove out to Parville to attend an event with the local greyhound rescue group, which we sort of have gotten involved with. This was our first time doing anything with them, but hopefully we'll be more involved in the future. There were probably 50+ greyhounds at the event and seeing how sweet and calm and beautiful they were further confirmed my thoughts that a greyhound is the way to go for our second dog. I can't wait.
We went from the greyhound event to the City Market where we gorged on KC barbeque and happened to catch a bit of an air show going on. From there the three of us went to Blue Springs to see a bit of 24 Hours of Landahl. What a COOL event!!! The Maddie dog had a great time hanging out in the woods along the trail, and the boyfriend and I had fun watching a race that looked WAY harder than Ironman. Maybe ... someday ....
On top of all that, I've started volunteering at the local animal shelter. I go out a few times a week and take some of the resident dogs out into the yard. I play with them and brush them and work on training them. Its so much fun and so rewarding.
Oh, and I go back to work on Tuesday!
Yeah, it might be a little slow around here for a while ...
