riddle me this ...
Question for any lawyer types who happen to mosey over here from Legal Underground or some other lawyer type blog ....
How busy were you 2L summer? Assuming you had some sort of lawyer type internship, what were your hours like??? Was there any flexibility?? Would it have been possible to miss a day or two of work???
I'm trying to plan some things for next year ... trying to make some decisions and need to have some idea of what my schedule will look like ....

Just be really up-front when you're interviewing about your need to take a few days off for a race. The kinds of firms you will want to work for will think it's cool and makes you a more interesting/valuable candidate. The ones that can't spare you a day or two of vay-cay, you don't want to work for. 2L summer jobs vary a lot in workloads, schedules, etc. Are you thinking about doing a BigLaw summer, or working for a PD or DA office, or something public interest, or what?
Mad has good advice. In my experience, most summer employers tend to be more flexible than students think. Particularly smaller firms and government. It all depends on the type of job though. If you're going Biglaw, you may not want to be the member of your class who took a few days off. In some firms, they really do expect you to make the law your life. Good advice to be up front about your plan and see how they react.
